Hey ya’ll :)
We are living here with our team at their chacara (sounds like “SHAH-ka-ra” –-think small scale rural farm) and we are
- 5 family units—which is
- 3 little kids (with one on the way in the next couple weeks)
- 9 adults
- in 2 buildings
- with only 1 kitchen
- building a new house for a family
- and in the midst of remodeling an apartment for us
- while producing a DVD series!
So this is kind of a noisy messy video showing where we live right now… we tidied up our room a bit for you, we but didn’t dress up, put makeup on or add music to the video or mess with editing it. Not that we ever dress up for videos we’ve done for you. But anyway. Consider this “raw” and “exclusive” footage—it sounds cooler than “noisy” and “messy” :)

Yesterday there were 15 teens from the U.S. that came by for the day and helped us out with all manner of projects—whitewashing walls, digging a ditch, moving a ton of bricks, weeding, chipping cement off walls… tons of helpful stuff. A bunch of people from church came, and when we had all prayed and sat down for lunch, the total head count came to 42! By the way, that’s a lot of dishes! Totally worth it though.

In other news, I experienced the Atlantic ocean (other than flying over it) for the first time! We went out on Saturday night with Joel & Stefanie to celebrate Valentine’s day. We spent some time on the beach, did a little bit of touristy- shopping (see the Brasil “flag” hanging on our wall in the video), and enjoyed a Brazil-Italian dinner.

See, we didn’t even put up a picture that shows your broken arm Joel, or that you’re 8 1/2 months pregnant Stefanie! I’m sure we were quite a group to watch—you guys plus us American gringos!

Anyway. That’s just a quick glimpse of a little bit of last week. We have tons to tell you about millipedes, washing machines, Portuguese words, what it’s like being 7 years old again, graphic design, why spelling really is important and how that affects your DVD release date, and other uses for bungee cords. Maybe if you ask, we’ll tell you about them—just can’t fit them all in one blog. Until next time…

It is a tropical paradise with challenges. Your introduction to "the real thing" has been swift and thurough. We pray that He give you grace each day and that the much activity will be converted into the results we all dream of when giving our selves to ministry. Hang in there and have another good week. The living arrangements seem like living in Oklahoma, only more permanent--that room looks a little smaller than OK.
Sure miss you guys and would love to hear more about millipedes, washing machines and being 7 yrs old again! Send us an email in your spare time ;) and include some warm sunshine with it! Can't wait to sleep on a bed without needing the quilt!
